I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
(Galatians 2:21)

The Old Testament provided an exclusive way to approach GOD–this is what was given to Moses—to a specific people (the descendants of Israel). This way was difficult, and failing to live up to the covenant would bring a promised destruction (on a national and individual level), and a return to the covenant would bring a promised restoration. The Old Testament is the Old Covenant.
-
The New Testament provided a specific way to approach GOD: GOD's people preach the Gospel (good news message) to everyone, all hearers the Gospel that choose to respond with acceptance and belief are reconciled with GOD through His plan for the Salvation of man. This plan is Jesus: who is Immanuel (with us is GOD), who was born of a virgin, lived a perfect life as a servant, was killed by his onw people, arose from the grave after three days and nights, and ascended to the right hand of the Father in Heaven. Those reconciled with GOD is anyone who accepted this Jesus as their Redeemer (a delivering hero). The reconciled may freely approach GOD in Heaven as their Heavenly Father , through their new Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. This "New" covenant would bring with it a promised helper, to all of these disciples; this helper would aid the disciples in life's way. Failing to live up to the New Covenant would consist of losing faith; a return to the covenant would be the return of the individual to faith in Jesus. The "Laws" of the Old Covenant are internalized and written on the heart and the Helper (the Holy Spirit) lives within the individual as Lord Jesus' seal of ownership. There is both a Heavenly Priest and a Heavenly Tabernacle, these replace the earthly ones of the Old Covenant.
-
Seventh-Day Adventism is, in effect, saying there is a need for a "third" covenant and that the New Covenant is no longer enough. This claim is not unique to Adventists; both Latter Day Saint and Islam make a similar claim.

Hebrews 9:24-28 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, [which are] the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us: 25 Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others; 26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. 27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: 28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
